Part One of the One Show insert film ‘Chelsea Pensioners’ broadcasted at 7 pm on June 8 to celebrate Founders Day.

The Royal Hospital Chelsea has been a retirement home for British Army Veterans for more than 300 years. Since they opened their doors in 1685 all their rooms have been full but due to the Pandemic things have changed. For the first time in its history 30 rooms have recently become available and the Royal Hospital Chelsea is actively searching for new Pensioners to take up residence.

Presenter Angellica Bell goes to the hospital to learn more about the situation and their recruitment process.
